Editorial Standards & Accuracy

Last updated 7 June 2026

Accuracy is the whole point of SG Finance Tools. A finance tool is only worth using if its numbers are right, so here is exactly how we source, build, check and maintain everything on the site.

Where our numbers come from

Every regulatory figure we use comes from official primary sources — never second-hand blogs or aggregators:

  • IRAS — income tax rates and reliefs, stamp duties (BSD, ABSD, SSD), property tax.
  • CPF Board — CPF contribution rates, allocation, interest, retirement sums and CPF LIFE.
  • HDB — housing loan rules, grants, eligibility and the Minimum Occupation Period.
  • MAS — TDSR/MSR limits, SORA, Singapore Savings Bonds and Treasury Bills.
  • SingStat & MOM — income, household and benchmark statistics.
  • ECDA / MSF — childcare and family-related subsidies.

Every figure carries an “as of” date so you can see how current it is.

How our calculators are built

Each calculator’s logic is written as a pure, tested function and validated test-first against official worked examples— for instance, our income-tax and stamp-duty calculators are checked against IRAS’s own published examples before they go live. Date-sensitive rules (like stamp duties) apply the correct historical schedule based on the date you enter.

How our guides are written

Every guide is fact-checked against primary sources before publishing. Where a figure or rule matters, we cite the official source and its reference year. We write in plain English, flag trade-offs honestly, and point you to the relevant calculator so you can run your own numbers rather than rely on a generic example.

Keeping figures current

Rules change, so we keep the site fresh in three ways:

  • Volatile rates (SORA, Singapore Savings Bonds, Treasury Bills, CPI) refresh automatically from official data feeds.
  • Regulatory pages are monitored for changes, so when a rate or rule is updated we can update the site promptly.
  • We periodically re-check every figure against the official sources.

Corrections

We take accuracy seriously and we’re not too proud to fix mistakes. If you spot a figure or result that looks wrong, please tell us via our Contactpage with the page and the detail — we’ll review and correct genuine errors quickly.
